They remind me that my past existed.

That one day, I tried to exit this world, but was dragged unwillingly back.

That life was unbearable, but I fought it.

They remind me of where I’ve been, and how far I’ve come.

I would never erase them.

Please, please continue to insist.

I am the most comfortable when you haunt me.

The Separation of EMS and the Fire Service

ambulancejockey:

I’d like to hear your thoughts on ALS fire crews. I dislike them and here’s why.

It’s a waste of tax money. Medics wages plus drugs and equipment are expensive.

Too many chefs in the kitchen. Egos become involved and the pissing match begins.

In my area the ambulance averages a faster response time, meaning fire medics use their skills less frequently, which in general makes them less proficient.

Having extra hands on scene can be useful and for that I thank the fire crews. But I don’t need another medic around. I could write more but I’m tired. What are your thoughts?

Let firefighters be firefighters and let medics be medics. I’m not a fan of combining the services. But I’m biased since I have little to no interest in fighting fires.

Another thing. My paramedic class consists of 8 people, and for 4 of them, the only reason they’re taking the course is so that they can get a full-time firefighting job, because their FD requires all full-time people to be EMT-Ps. These four don’t care about EMS at all. They’re just going through the motions enough to pass. I know that I don’t know what their real motives are and I can’t predict the future. What I do know is that judging from their behavior, they are not the kind of people I would want showing up at my house and tubing me or sticking things into my veins.

Reason I love my job #100

I get to see things that look like they should have come out of a zombie movie. What other 20 year old can say that?

Reason #101: Strangers tell me things about themselves that embarrass them so much, they couldn’t even tell their best friend.

My own mother

doesn’t know the difference between an EMT-Basic and a Paramedic. Nor does she know which of these I actually am.

She even refers to me as an “ambulance driver,” which irritates me to no end.

She blames her ignorance on the fact that I’m the first person in the family to ever do anything like this, and that I don’t talk about my job or how my day at work was at all ever. Maybe that’s vaild, but excuse me for sparing you the details.

I want to know.

How do you pass an EMT-B class and not know the difference between an NP airway and an ET tube?

Because I definitely had to explain the difference to my partner last night.

Scary stuff.

There are only a couple things that turn me into a giant shark of fury and one of them starts with, “My partner doesn’t know the difference between an NP and an ETT”.

What the what??

Considering ETT isn’t a basic skill (at least where I’m from), not knowing what it is is understandable. But NP? The DIFFERENCE?

How do people like this get employed?

Brb gonna go rewatch all of Arrested Development

NYC Holiday (by Dunny)

Dear 7th Ave, you’re looking goooooooorgeous and i can’t wait to see you <3

blogsecret:

I’m gay. And I’ve been dating my best friend for a month. Her dad hates me and won’t let her talk or see me. We’ve been seeing each other secretly. It’s been a month and he doesn’t know it. And he never will.

Been there, done the exact same thing. Spoiler, it doesn’t end well.
